The Weird Sisters {Giveaway}

Well the time has come for the last of the 5 for 5 Giveaways. This Blogiversary celebration sure has been fun to share with each of you, and I am a little sad to have to pack up the party supplies, blow out the candles and put everything back to normal till this time next year.

But it is not all over yet! We still have one more FABULOUS giveaway left!

One VERY lucky winner will win an autographed copy of The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown

A few weeks ago I had the wonderful pleasure of seeing Eleanor at the Arkansas Literary Festival
Both Eleanor and her book are absolutely wonderful and as 1 of 3 adult sisters I was particularly drawn to to this tale of sisters "love each other, but don't like each other very much."
(Not that my sisters and I have ever thought such a thing about each other, especially not in our adolescents..ahem).

Eleanor's book is a raging success and has already been published overseas as shown by these alternate book covers from the UK and the Netherlands.

You can read/listen to excerpts here
and read all sorts of interviews and reviews of Eleanor and her book here
And if you have a book club, I think this would be a great addition to your reading list. There is a lot of material here that would be great fodder for conversation and analysis and what more could a book club want?

Since the Lit Fest, I have been delighted to become Blog pals with Eleanor and she has graciously offered up not just one of her books for a giveaway but an autographed copy straight from her! How lovely is that?
Somehow it makes the book even better to know that the writer is a generous, down to earth, former middle school teacher who is intrigued by birth order as I am and who has taken to her new success with delight and affection and is not the least bit snobby or aloof.

Thanks Eleanor for writing such a lovely book and for sharing it - and yourself- with us at the Lit Fest and now on the blog! You are a peach!!

But wait there is MORE!
Because every book lover also has an affinity for words and letters, the winner of this giveaway will also get their pick of  a Vintage Typewriter Necklace in the letter of their choice from my good friend Erin's new venture-
E. Leigh's Handbags and Accessories.

Erin has amazing taste and I am so proud of her for going out on her own and chasing her dream!  I cannot wait till she opens her brick-and-mortar store her locally -I will be a faithful customer for sure.

  7. The last great book I read was "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand." Oh, how I loved it! I need to read The Weird Sisters because Eleanor Brown is coming to visit our store--an independent bookstore in Arlington, VA called One More Page Books. I would choose a "W" for my necklace because, believe it or not, "Weird" is my 20yr. old son's nickname for me. As in, "What up, Weird?" Ah, kids.

  27. Unfortunately I haven't read any good "grown up" books lately. My favorite children's book I just read to my little ones was "And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon" by Janet Stevens. As for the necklace? I would choice a "B" in memory of my sister that just recently passed away.

  28. The Weird Sisters is on my book club's wish list. I'm even on the waiting list at the library!! I read I Will Carry You by Angie Smith and it was so great. Also, Water For Elephants.....great book, great movie!

  29. This is a VERY exciting giveaway for me. First of all, I am in two book clubs and LOVE to read and I am a book-a-holic! Secondly, my name starts with E! (I'm the "e" in Jemm). Oh my goodness I hope I win.

  30. Would love to read this book! I am one of six sisters (and four brothers) but unfortunately lost one of my younger sisters to breast cancer. We are all very close but love to reminisce about our youth and the times we didn't all get along. Books on sisters and sibling order intrigue me of course. The last book I really enjoyed was "A Discovery of Witches" by Deborah Harkness. I loved it and can't wait for the sequels! Thanks for the chance!!

p.s. I'd love the letter W. I have a mixed media necklace I made with my grands initials included except for one grandson and that would finish it!

p.s.s. Do you think this comment is long enough!?!

  32. My first post has been lost :( so I'm trying again. If I won this necklace, my middle daughter, Caitlin would receive it as a gift. I'd chose her initial, "C." For some strange reason, she obsessed with old, manual typewriters. We don't have one and she's only ever seen one here in the charity shops in England. Plus she's my "writer." She writes me little notes all the time - when she's upset, she writes in out in a note. Just ask Jemimah, she's my sensitive one.
