it's all about the color

About a month or so ago (or longer? time flies...) I finally sat down and watched Mamma Mia with some friends... While some of the movie was a teeny bit silly (and for any super fans out there, please take note that I said "teeny") and while Pierce Brosnan's singing was very, shall we say, "average?" there were 2 extremely lovely & redeeming qualities about this movie (besides the sheer "funness" factor of it all ...) First was Amanda Seyfried's beautiful, beautiful voice that was as big and clear as her amazing eyes. Her versions of I Have A Dream & Thank You For The Music were by far the best songs in the movie...
But it should come to know surprise to those who know me well, that when I think of this movie, the thing I think about the most, the thing that enchanted me, and would cause me to give it a second, third and perhaps even a fourth look were the amazing, wonderfully, beautiful colors.. on everything from the walls, to the towels to the rugs....
Movies like this make me want to repaint every room in my house... The art directors on Mamma Mia struck the perfect balance between vibrant and faded;
Sun drenched and long shadows.

so happy....

  1. Wow! That is exactly what I thought. I thought the actors had no chance because it was all about the scenery! The colors were just brilliant. The singing on the dock just knocked me out. It was just wonderful to see it all. I thought of you when I saw the "hide a way."

  2. I went to see it the day after my youngest daughter got married---needless to say I shed a couple of tears. But, mainly I just smiled and smiled! I loved the colors, the scenery and the happy feelings it evoked. Love that song on the dock!

  6. Even though I am not usually one for bright colors, (I'm working on that...) I really fell in love with the bright and cheery look of Mamma Mia too. It was super gorgeous :o) One better was Memoirs of a Geisha- the images in that movie are breathtaking- LOVE IT!

    Have a Happy Day!

  9. I still have not seen this one.
    I think I need to very soon. Looks great!!
    Pierce is so good looking and charming, his singing doesn't really matter.
    Have a great week,

  10. Hi I found somehow found you through a series of links from Tara Frey's blog. I'm enjoying reading your blog and the lovely photos.

    I love color too, and I'm assuming you have probably seen it, but if not, you must see Sofia Coppola's version of Marie Antoinette. A visual treat as well! I loved Mamma Mia and agree with the poster on Memories of a Geisha...beautiful! :)
